About the Item
A Louis XV-style mantel clock in the French Rococo taste, its burl-wood case hand-painted with floral bouquets and mounted with gilt-bronze ormolu scrolls, crest and feet. The dial carries enamel Roman-numeral cartouches around an embossed gilt centre. Elegant and theatrical, it brings old-world Parisian grandeur to a mantel or console. No maker signature visible on dial; movement not photographed. Case veneer appears to be burl (possibly olive-ash) with painted, not inlaid, floral decoration. Hands missing in photos.
