About the Item
John Powell. A large decorative print of a garden room: white and yellow orchids, irises, daffodils and daisies fill blue-and-white chinoiserie jars and terracotta pots ranged on wicker and lattice staging, with a mullioned window at the centre opening to distant hills and trees. The drawing is crisp and illustrative, the colour cool and high-key - lavender, buttercup yellow, sage and cobalt against cream. Pencil inscriptions in the lower margin give the edition number at left and the artist's signature at right. Medium: colour serigraph on paper. Signed lower right margin, in pencil, reading "John Powell". Edition: 194/300. Inscribed on the reverse or mount: John Powell; 194/300. Condition: No visible damage; some glass glare and one small dark speck on the mat above the edition number.
